City of Wallowa Trail Section

The Joseph Branch Trail is open and accessible to all in Wallowa, OR!

June 2025 marked the completion of the Wallowa Pocket Park and Trailhead.

November 2025 marked the completion of the first section of the City of Wallowa Trail Section; it extends westward from the Pocket Park Trailhead all the way down to Douglass Street.

Plans and funding are in place to continue this trail section all the way to the Wallowa Lions Park then onward across Highway 82 to the City’s urban growth boundary at Bear Creek. Stay tuned here and to the e-newsletter for trail construction updates!

The Joseph Branch Trail in Wallowa Features:

  • A beautiful pocket park equipped with wheelchair accessible tables and a covered picnic area

  • 0.5 Miles of ADA accessible trail-with-rail

  • A bicycle repair station

  • A water fountain

  • Access to the 320-acre Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland property and trails via the Wallowa River Bridge

  • Excellent riparian area birding opportunities

  • A little free library installed and constructed by a local student

  • Water Fountain being installed March 2026
